Tootsie Tunes in Feature Film - May 14, 2007

"Would 'Ya" from Tootsie Tunes is featured in the just released major film, "American Pastime". Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros., the story centers around the internment of Japanese Americans during World War 2. The film was released in theatres on May 11 and will be released on DVD on May 22. "Would 'Ya" was rerecorded with a small jazz combo featuring Stan Vansant on clarinet and Richard Freitas on piano.

Philips Electronics Licenses "Smokey" - March 19, 2007

Philips Electronics, in conjunction with BenT Music has licensed the tune “Smokey” from the CD “Tootsie Tunes” for inclusion in all Philips GoGear and Streamium products. These products will be found in retail outlets such as Circuit City, Best Buy, Wall Mart, etc., and will be hitting stores around the world in May of 2007. 

"Rag Doll Rag" in Top 100 - March 19, 2007

BenT Music has announced that “Rag Doll Rag” from the CD “Tootsie Tunes” was in the Top 100 most popular tunes in Canada for 2006.

Places 2nd! - November 11, 2006

“Tootsie Tunes” took 2nd place as best solo piano album at the JPF International Music Awards held on November 4th. 600 albums were nominated out of a total of 25,500 entries. Richard performed "Try 'n Catch Me" from the album to a very enthusiastic audience at the awards ceremony in the Galaxy Music Theatre, Santa Ana, Ca.

"Lost On the B Side" - September 20, 2006

"Marlowe's Blues", a solo piano piece written and performed by Richard is part of the soundtrack for the new film, "Lost On the B Side" by Directors, Ltd. "Lost on the B Side" is an indie film about indie music. Twenty-six bands from around the world have come together to create an incredible and innovative soundtrack. "Marlowe's Blues" occurs at an important turning point in the film and the poignant piece drives home the emotion of the lead character, Peter Greene, at one of the questioning periods of his life. The film had a double world premier on September 15 in California at both the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival and the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.
